FAQS

If you have a question that is not covered here, please email or call.

WHAT ARE YOUR CREDENTIALS?

I am registered with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), as well as being a clinical member of Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT). You will find my registration number on the receipt for service.

ARE SESSIONS COVERED BY OHIP?

Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP, but is covered by many extended health insurance plans. I cannot bill insurance companies directly, but I can provide receipts for claims. Please check your insurance plan to ensure it covers Registered Psychotherapists.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This is a great question and unfortunately there is no formula. Everyone is unique in how they process their situation.
I remind clients that they will usually know when they are done

HOW LONG IS THE SESSION?

The session is one hour, which includes 50 minutes of therapy and 10 minutes to discuss homework and schedule another appointment.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE FIRST SESSION?

The first session is a time for me to get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy. I will ask you lots of questions and you can share what you feel comfortable sharing. I remind clients that they can feel either tired and drained after a session or relieved and lighter.

WHAT IF MY PARTNER WANTS TO COME TO SEE YOU AS WELL?

At times during the therapy process, and as a result of a mutual decision on the part of both client and myself, we will invite a partner or family member to attend our session if doing so is in the best interests of the client.  Besides that, if partners or family members wish to begin therapy themselves, to avoid a conflict of interest I will provide referral names to other therapists.
